Paco Ferrando, a Catalan painter born in Orihuela (Alicante) in 1946 and a resident of Cabrils (Barcelona) since childhood, is a leading figure in contemporary figurative art. A graduate of the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, Ferrando has developed a solid career marked by technique, sensitivity, and a deep connection to the European pictorial tradition.

After finishing his studies, he opened his first studio in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona, sharing it with his friend Kim, creator of the magazine Thursday. During this period, he traveled to the Netherlands to study Flemish and Dutch painting firsthand, and later lived in Madrid, where he became involved in the Castilian realist movement. His work began to circulate in international galleries, including spaces in Amsterdam and Brussels.

In 1981, Ferrando stepped away from the art market for two decades, dedicating himself to commissioned works from his studios in Calella (Barcelona) and Tenerife. It was in 2001 that he returned to the commercial circuit, participating in solo and group exhibitions in galleries such as l'Arcada (Blanes), Omnium Ars (Playa de Aro), Sammer Gallery (Marbella) and Albemarle Gallery (London), as well as in art fairs such as Lineart (Ghent), DeArte (Madrid), MARBart (Marbella) and the LA Art Show (Los Angeles, 2020).

During this period, her work was recognized with numerous awards: first prize in the “Jean-Frederic Forest Foundation Painting Competition” (2004), first prize in the “Port d'Aiguadolç Painting Competition” (Sitges, 2005), and several notable selections in competitions such as the “Honda – La Garriga Painting Prize” and the “Figurative Painting Competition” of the Arts and Artists Foundation. Today, Paco Ferrando's paintings are part of private collections in Europe, the United States, Russia and Asia, reaffirming his relevance in the field of contemporary realism.
