Coderch & Malavia
Coderch & Malavia is the artistic duo formed by Joan Coderch (b. 1959) and Javier Malavia (b. 1970), two internationally renowned Spanish sculptors who began their collaboration in 2015. Their work focuses on the idealized human figure, exploring different attitudes and emotions towards life through a refined sculptural technique in bronze.
Their creative process is as unique as their pieces: they work collaboratively, sharing every phase of the artwork's creation, from modeling to final finishing. This collaboration is based on shared values such as social commitment to equality, environmental protection and support for children, principles that permeate his artistic production.
The objective of their work is clear: Beauty as a daily tool for creation. His artistic universe combines formal perfection and conceptual depth, generating sculptures that convey strength, harmony, and sensitivity.
His career has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Queen Sofia Prize for Painting and Sculpture for his work Hamlet (2017) and the First Prize at the ARC International Salon by The Swan Dance (2019). They have also received the Mariano Benlliure Sculpture Medal, he TIAC Art Prize and the Arcadia Contemporary Award.
Today, Coderch & Malavia are established as leading figures in contemporary figurative sculpture, with works featured in private collections and international exhibitions.
