Victor Pedra

Víctor Pedra, born in Barcelona in 1955, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work combines painting, sculpture, and design with a strong surrealist and symbolic influence. Between 1975 and 1980, he studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he also trained in printmaking and ceramics. After completing his studies, he embarked on a journey through Europe (1980-1982) that enriched his artistic vision and marked the beginning of his sculptural path.

Her deeply personal style is rooted in surrealism with a clear Picasso-esque inspiration. The female figure is central to her work: voluminous bodies accompanied by a distinctive iconography that includes birds, dogs, palm trees, watermelons, and pomegranates. These elements function as allegories of fertility, sensuality, and life, generating a visual narrative rich in symbolism.

In the 1990s, Víctor Pedra began creating large-scale sculptures for public spaces, consolidating his artistic language in three dimensions as well. His works are notable for their use of ochre colors on canvas or paper, as well as for polychrome metal sculptures that have been highly valued by collectors. He has also explored still life as a pictorial genre, always within his distinctive aesthetic universe.

His restless spirit led him to collaborate with the sculptor Josep Vilalta-Tor in the design of artistic jewelry, thus expanding his field of expression.

In 2000, Pedra made a life-changing artistic decision: she left urban life and teaching to settle in a small town near the Catalan Pyrenees. This move allowed her to work on larger scales, further exploring her sculpture and experimenting with new forms and materials.

Victor Pedra's work is, without a doubt, a unique proposal within contemporary Spanish art, with its own visual language that moves between symbol, body and matter.
